SCNH Jackets Ready for the Ice!!
The club has been working with A&P Master Images to
design skating jackets for our skaters. You can order
your jacket using the order
form from our website. Skaters can also order
matching pants, tee shirts, headbands or hats to go with their
jackets.
So fill out that order
form, and then turn it in to either the ice monitor or a
board member, and make sure that your skater enters the new
season dressed for success on the ice!
Small Changes to Freestyle Schedule
Our schedule on Sunday evenings has changed slightly, due to
the elimination of the Team Skills session. This has
allowed us to extend the Low Freestyle session on Sunday
evening, and it has allowed us to double the amount of time
allocated to our popular Sunday evening Style class.
Check out the freestyle flyer or the schedule page on the
website for more information.
As a club we have worked hard to best serve the needs of our
membership. This coming season we face some large
increases in ice costs, and we have worked hard to minimize
the impact of these greatly increased costs on our
membership. Freestyle skaters can register anytime we
have ice this summer, just talk to the ice monitor during our
summer session.
- If you have questions, please feel free to ask us. Also remember to keep an eye on our SCNH Twitter feed for the latest news.
2012 Registration Answers to Common
Questions
Is this more expensive than
last year? Yes it is. Our ice rates have
increased dramatically this year. Our Board struggled
with the best way to hold down costs, while still providing
the ice time and benefits that make our club special.
Our club still provides great value for our members, along
with additional services not offered elsewhere.
What is the Volunteer Fee?
Freestyle
skaters
will
now
pay
a
volunteer
fee
at
the
beginning
of
the
season.
By
volunteering
for
club
approved
activities
the
family
of
the
skater
will
qualify
to
have
this
fee
refunded
at the end of the season. If we don't get enough
volunteers, we will use these fees to hire local students to
perform these activities for the club.
What is the Administrative
Fee? This fee covers mailing expenses, USFS insurance
coverage, costumes, and some of the other administrative costs
that the club has.
If you have any
questions, feel fee to drop by and talk to us at registration.
Keep watching us for fun on the ice....
You can now follow current club plans, events and updates on our new SCNH Twitter feed, and be sure to come out and pay us a visit on Facebook. Make sure that you stay in touch with all of our current events, as well as the planning for our Annual competition.
Skaters, help make the club even better by helping out with our new Junior Board.
SCNH on the Web
Be sure to look for SCNH out on Facebook.
Become a fan of the club, and feel free to join up. We also
have our own SCNH
Twitter feed for the latest news and info on the
club. Become a follower of the club and get updates on
changing ice times, competition updates, and more!
Don't have a computer, but still want updates from our SCNH Twitter feed? Just text "follow SCNH" to 40404, and you will receive text messages of important club news, all from the SCNH Twitter feed. Standard text messaging rates apply.
Joint Members and Visiting Skaters
Joint memberships to the SCNH are available to all members of
the USFS. Fees are based on the amount of ice needed. For
details about joint membership, just drop us an email,
call us at 315-734-5656, or check our brochure.
We welcome visiting professionals, and skaters from other
clubs. Visiting coaches will need to pay a $5 fee for using
our ice, unless they are coaching club members, in which case
the fee will be waived. All coaches must have valid
insurance and must sign our code of conduct before skating on
our ice.
During the regular season ice schedule, visiting skaters can
drop in on our ice for $10 per hour, if there are open slots
for the session. Punch cards can be purchased as well, for
those skaters that frequently "drop in".
Links to other skating sites and other information
There are a number of different places on the web where you can find information about general figure skating topics. Some of our favorites are:
-
The official website for US Figure Skating. - icenetwork.com currently contains a lot of free resources, as well as a "Season Pass", gaining access to more than a 1,000 hours of live and on-demand video of figure skating.
- Rink Diagram - A blank rink diagram that you can print out. Use it for mapping out your program.
- Collegiate Fact Sheet - A fact sheet from USFS on the options available to college age skaters, who wish to continue skating throughout their college years.
- Skating Club of Utica - One of the other local skating clubs. We have a special arrangement for the skaters of both clubs to utilize additional ice at a reduced rate from the other club.
