Stay Informed
Make sure that you read the materials posted at the tables when your
skater shows up for lessons. We have information and details
around the upcoming banquet, our Spring exhibition, and the Spring
Basic Skills session held in Whitestown. Make sure that you stay
informed about all of the latest events and happenings within the club.
Learn To Skate with us
Skating is a fun and exciting activity. Learning to skate can be fun
too,
especially with us. Our professionals have been teaching young people
and
old how to skate in this area for years. Their experience, and focus on
skills and making things fun, make our basic Skills program awesome.
Come
and watch, and then sign up. Sessions start during the fall and winter.
The fee for Basic Skills skaters for the 2010 - 2011 sessions is $140
per
session. This fee covers one night of Basic Skills lesson time, on
either
the Sunday evening, Monday evening, or Thursday evening sessions. In
addition, this year we will continue making an additional hour of ice
available to our Basic Skills skaters,
on Saturday afternoons, in Whitestown. This allows them to get
some practice on their own.
Basic Skills Information
There is some great information on what to expect from United States Figure Skating's Basic Skills program. There are special pages with information for both the Basic Skills skaters, and the Basic Skills parents.
| The Basic Skills program has a series of progressions, or skill levels, that skaters will master, before moving on to the next level. These begin with three different preschool levels: Snowplow Sam 1, Snowplow Sam 2, and Snowplow Sam 3. | ![]() |
| Basic 1 is the next level, and the Basic Skills levels run all the way through Level 8. | ![]() |
| After the Basic Skills levels, the skater can then progress through the six Free Skate levels. | ![]() |
