The 2010 Summer Test Schedule Is Now Posted!
We continue to serve the needs of our local skaters by offering a summer testing session for 2010. This test session will be held at the Whitestown rink. This year our test session will be one the the final test sessions before the rules changes go into effect in September 2010.
Our tentative schedule is now posted. The test session will be held on Friday, July 23rd, 2010. Click here for the tentative schedule. Please remember to show up at the rink at least one hour before you are scheduled to skate.
The 2010 Summer Ice Package Is Here!
We continue to serve the needs of our local skaters by offering a summer ice package for 2010. All sessions will be held at the Whitestown rink. This year we will be offering 3 hour and 6 hour packages. Based on your feedback from last year, we will also offer a special package for college skaters. Check out the official Summer Ice Announcement. We are attempting to provide an affordable alternative for local skaters that don't want to travel great distances to skate this summer.
We will also be offering two Basic Skills sessions, each 6 weeks long. Both programs will skate on Wednesday nights, from 5:50pm to 6:50pm, in Whitestown. Use the links below to print out your registration forms.
The Spring Basic Skills package will run from April 7, 2010 to May 12, 2010.
The Summer Basic Skills package will run from July 7, 2010 to August 11, 2010.
If you have any questions, just email the club.
The 2010 Mohawk Valley Classic Results!
This was another great event, with a new group of unique and entertaining Showcase programs. Check out the official RESULTS from this years competition. Also check out photos from the competition, which you can purchase, from Pro Photo FX. You can find our event pictures here. Make sure that you check out this special offer from Pro Photo FX.
We are looking forward to next year already, and another fun competition.
Winter Weather
The winter is here, and we have plenty of snow flying around now. Just a quick note here on our policy about freestyle skating and Basic Skills cancellations. As long as the rink is open, and the New Hartford Rec center is operating, we will be having Basic Skills classes and freestyle ice. We always recommend that parents use their own judgement about road conditions and safe travel conditions. You know your own road area better than we could.
Keep watching us for fun on the ice....
We start skating our regular schedule this Sunday, October 5th, in New Hartford. All weekday ice times are for the New Hartford Rec Center, Saturday ice times are in Whitestown.
You can now follow current club plans, events and updates on our new SCNH Twitter feed, and be sure to come out and pay us a visit on Facebook. Make sure that you stay in touch with all of our current events, as well as the planning for our Annual competition.
Skaters, help make the club even better by helping out with our new Junior Board.

club. Become a follower of the club and get updates on changing ice
times, competition updates, and more!
Our very own Suzie Flynn has her story, Solo Dance Rocks Nationals, published on the front page of the September 2009 USFS Adult Skating Newsletter. She describes her experience at US Adult Nationals.
Go check out the SCNH Wiki Site, and add your own observations, comments, pictures, or stories. Share your love for the sport with your fellow skaters.
Joint Members and Visiting Skaters
Joint memberships to the SCNH are available to all members of
the USFS.
Fees are based on the amount of ice needed. For details about joint
membership,
just drop us
an email, call us at 315-734-5656, or check our brochure.
We welcome visiting professionals, and skaters from other clubs.
Visiting
coaches will need to pay a $5 fee for using our ice, unless they are
coaching
club members, in which case the fee will be waived. All
coaches must have valid insurance and must sign our code of
conduct before skating on our ice.
During the regular season ice schedule, visiting skaters can drop in on
our ice for $4 for a half hour, or $8 per hour, if there are open slots
for the session. Punch cards can be purchased as well, for those
skaters
that frequently "drop in".
Links to other skating sites and other information
There are a number of different places on the web where you can find information about general figure skating topics. Some of our favorites are:
- The official website for US Figure Skating. - icenetwork.com currently contains a lot of free resources, as well as a "Season Pass", gaining access to more than a 1,000 hours of live and on-demand video of figure skating.
- Rink Diagram - A blank rink diagram that you can print out. Use it for mapping out your program.
- Collegiate Fact Sheet - A fact sheet from USFS on the options available to college age skaters, who wish to continue skating throughout their college years.
- Skating Club of Utica - One of the other local skating clubs. We have a special arrangement for the skaters of both clubs to utilize additional ice at a reduced rate from the other club.
